Red Bull: No Rewind
Red Bull is famous for pumping its immense advertising budget into some pretty crazy projects; Felix Baumgartner's world record skydive or their infamous Soap Box derby immediately spring to mind. But they also fund some pretty rad projects, the amazing work they did with DIY projects up and down the country will serve British skateboarders well for years to come, and their latest venture falls firmly into that category too.
Enlisting four of the most talented teams in skateboarding today (Real, Plan B, Santa Cruz and Blind), Red Bull have turned the "edit comp" on its head by laying down some thoroughly restrictive parameters that manage to increase creativity tenfold. We know that sounds counter intuitive but trust us, it works!
See, every team was issued one Sony VX1000 camera, one fisheye and one tape. Each camera was modified to disable the 'Eject tape' and 'rewind' buttons, meaning the second the record button was pressed, the camera was rolling and the time available to get stuff done was shrinking by the second. Obviously, this meant no messing about!
The resulting four edits are available to view via the Red Bull website now, after which you get the chance to vote for your favourite. You won't see us attempting influencing public opinion mind, we're keeping the details of which we liked best exclusively to ourselves!
