SKF Bearings Skate Team Hits Copenhagen | Ishod's Oceania Part & Anti Hero's Nick Matthews Shine

Bearings, Birds and Bouncing Back from Bloodclots!


Throughout the celebrated - but relatively short - lifespan of professional skateboarding, a handful of iconic teams have hit the scene, stacked right out of the gate.

Think of the mass exodus of World Industries talent to form Girl in August ’93, or the rebirth of Plan B in the early 2000s: über-squads made up of the best of the best, taking the skate world by storm.

Sweden’s SKF Bearings, under the sage guidance of Kaspar Von Lierop, is following that time-tested formula to a tee - and setting the skate world alight with the likes of Ishod, Louie, Rayssa, Tiago, Kader, Oski, Alexis and more repping their goods.

The team's visit to Copenhagen, in the two days leading up to CPH Open, may have been severely hampered by inclement weather, but with a team this virtuous, the resulting footage was always going to pop.



On the other side of the coin, there are the organically built teams of legend - brands decades deep in the game, who've forged their reputations with blood, sweat and tears (plus a few tricks, slams, and beers, if you catch our drift).

Founded 30 years ago by Julien Stranger and housed under SF stalwarts DLX, Anti Hero Skateboards is as legit as it comes. New pro Nick Matthews is a true original and therefore a perfect representative for the realest board brand in the business.

With BA and Gerwer spliced between Nick’s unique approach, his new part The Pigeonator is a rare treat indeed!


Wrapping up the week - and linking SKF and DLX through more than just their acronym branding - we couldn’t believe our luck when we saw that Ishod not only featured in the SKF CPH edit, but had dropped a full part of his own over on his YouTube channel too!

Entitled Oceania, and marking his first full part since last year’s career-threatening blood clot (see our latest interview with him if you need to catch up!), this is Ishod at his most relaxed and refined. Mixing flowing lines with multiple hits at the same spots, the bona fide GOAT reasserts his claim to skateboarding's crown. Enjoy!
