The History of Lloyds: Kingpin ‘On The Spot’

Jun 2016 by Route One

By that title you’d be forgiven of thinking we’d ventured back into the annals of fiscal activity in this country so we must immediately set the record straight; this video from Kingpin actually documents the legendary Bristolian waterfront amphitheatre skate spot, not the savings and loans company from which it gets its name!

Kicking off with an introduction with Paul Carter (the first to every ollie the fabled three back in 1989) and chronicling the following two and a half decades with both archive footage and further interview segments, this really does show the very best from a spot that has come to shape the way an entire city’s skate scene behaves.

From Osiris demo’s 2000 people deep to solo missions with the hardest of switch hammers, Lloyds has seen it all and continues to be a hub to the skateboarders of the south west. If you haven’t had the opportunity to roll around on its brick floor we implore you to do so, here’s to the next 27 years!
