Slappy Trucks 'Never Heard of Em'
Let's be fair, there are few things harder to make a success of than the truck game. At this stage, even with the likes of Thunder, Ace and Venture being decades deep, Indy pretty much has a monopoly on the industry. Even Don Cassel, thirty five years after turning the industry on its head (quite literally with the inverse kingpin,) barely shifts more than five pairs of Grind Kings a year...
Which is what makes the success of newby co Slappy trucks all the more impressive! Being the brainchild of Mike Sinclair (yes, he of Tum Yeto and Nike SB fame) does mean Slappy is headed by a veritable guru of skateboard networking but knowing the right people doesn't guarantee success. No, it's through good product, clever art direction and a rad team that a skate brand is built and Slappy Trucks appears to have all of those attributes in spades!
Their new video, the self deprecating 'Never heard of em,' appeared on the Slappy YouTube channel last weekend and, as one would expect, it showcases a whole host of skaters you genuinely have never heard of. But don't let the Ronseal title put you off - the video is as good as the hardware, so give it a watch and then give the trucks a go. Who knows, they might just be the next Indy (or maybe the next Grind King).
