Ryan Lay: DR in Color
Mar 2022

Ryan Lay, the thinking man's skater (if the thinking man is bored of Suciu), recently visited the Dominican Republic with Eric Danescu in tow with the intent of showcasing the skateboarding promise the Dominican side of the island of Hispaniola has to offer.
Although steeped in Spanish influence, truth be told Barca it ain't. There aren't countless granite plazas and an abundance of perfect banks but Ryan and Eric still managed to uncover a plethora of suitably skateable architecture that, alongside the beautiful B-roll the stunning backdrop facilitates, produces this delightful clip.
Whilst it's unlikely that this video will spearhead a mass industry exodus to Santa Domingo any time soon, it's nice to be reminded that skate travel is again a possibility as we come out of covid and that there's a whole world out there to discover (even if Barca is still the best place to go).
