With shameless puns absolutely intended, we’ve got big things brewing with the southwest tap masters, New Bristol Brewery.
Together, we’ve linked up to bring the punters of Bristol (and beyond) a collaborative collection of skateboard decks and soft goods, alongside a new pairing of flavourful thirst-quenchers that are perfect to see off a skate session.
Keeping the Bristol scene at the heart of our team up, we’re sending some of the funds raised over to the crew at Bristol Skatepark Collective to support the grand re-opening of Bedminster’s much-needed renovation at Victoria Park – this round’s on us, lads!
The joint project will launch with a party of our own at the New Bristol Brewery Taproom on Wilson Street from 5pm on Friday the 26th of January, where you’ll be able to purchase the special edition beers, clothing, and decks, along with top scran from Dead Wingers and fresh trims from Capello Barbers.
Our joint venture fittingly fizzed into life over a chance encounter and a “cheers” at a Bristol pub, where a tipsy talking point and a mutual appreciation for skating and the occasional drink set into motion an idea that would ferment over several months.
During this time, the crew at NBB worked with the Route One design team to assemble a capsule of tees and boards that fit the stand-out style of their can labels, with their logo of Bristol’s legendary gorilla, Alfred, taking pride of place in each of the designs.
Then, at the start of January, they invited us along to their space in St Paul’s to check out the process behind the pint with a brewery tour and the opportunity to catch up with their tight-knit team. They are all about bringing community together, and immediately welcomed us into the fold with warm smiles and ecstatic chatter about New Bristol Brewery and their individual roles in the company.
We learned that they swap out their drink offerings monthly and, naturally, we couldn’t let the opportunity to collaborate pass us by without nabbing a beer or two. So, the brewing experts have graciously developed a duo of skateboarding-inspired drinks on our behalf.
Introducing Speed Wobble, described as a “Munich style premium light lager, balanced with bready malt and spicy German hops”; and Neburilla, a “seasonable New-England style pale ale with super low bitterness, a mixture of Australian and US hops bringing big soft-fruit aroma”.
Both drinks will be available to purchase alongside the skateboard deck and clothing collection at our launch party at New Bristol Brewery, starting at 5pm on Friday the 26th of January, before going live online and in the Bristol Route One store. We will be pledging £5 from every T-shirt sale, £10 from every deck sale, and 5% of beer sales (until the end of February) to Bristol Skatepark Collective.
