Jax and Lucas
As William Strobeck's Violet brand goes from strength to strength, it's only right that we should expect a smidgen of video content along its journey. Bill is, after all, one of the most famous filmers to ever point his camera at a skateboarder so we're always gonna have high hopes for Violet's creative output!
Upon first glimpse, 'Jax and Lucas' seems to owe as much to early Baker as it does nods to Bill's more recent work with the likes of Supreme. Young lads Jax Decker and Lucas, picked for stardom right at the very start of their skate journey, are filmed in gratuitous slow-motion and occasionally (and understandably) afforded a little more sketch than their elder peers. It really does hark back to the days of Baker 2G, which should come as no surprise, given Strobeck's publicly declared love for the video.
Not that it doesn't stand on its own merits of course. Our two young protagonists, no doubt relishing their first real exposure, bring the heat and the resultant 11 minutes of footage is sure to inspire a whole new generation of kids in much the same way as Knox Godoy and Evan Hernandez did 24 years ago. We just hope their futures play out a little more favourably.
