House Of Vans London Opening
Last Thursday we headed to the Big Smoke for the exclusive friends and family opening of the brand new and highly anticipated House Of Vans, London.
Situated in the Old Vic tunnels directly underneath Waterloo station, and spanning 30,000 square feet across 5 of the underground tunnels, Vans didn’t hold back on their deep root reputation for putting on a breathtaking event and keeping the creative vibes at a massive high!
To say we were impressed would be an understatement. The space is incredible; boasting everything you could want under one roof - skate park, cinema, art space, performance stage.. We could go on.
The evening opened with a skate session/hang out from the Vans European and US skate teams consisting of Route One team rider Josh Young, Alain Goikoetxea, Flo Marfaing, Daan Van Der Linden, Rowan Zorilla, Geoff Rowley, Anthony Van Engelen, Chima Ferguson, Chris Pfanner, Ryan Walker and Curren Caples. Some of the legends also made it down for the opening, including John Cardiel, Tony Alva and Christian Hosoi. The Vans-man himself, Steve Van Doren was also in attendance and working the room!
This was swiftly followed by canapés, mojitos and a night filled with performances from The Savages, Jagger & Juan Love, Toddla T, Dinosaur Jr and Illum Sphere. Public Enemy killed it as the final act, playing to a packed out room.
The space opened officially to the public last Saturday. London’s best indoor concrete skate bowl, street course and mini ramp, full size cinema, live music venue, Vans lab artist incubator space, premium café and gifting suite got a good seeing to from people eagerly waiting in line to see what all the fuss was about.
Offering a rare and amazing opportunity for locals, travelers near and far alike to showcase and pimp their skills on every creative level.
Make sure you get yourself down there to check out this little piece of skateboarding history! Check out our range of Vans footwear and apparel here.
