Catching Up With Spit & Sawdust
2015 saw Route One and Supra Footwear join forces bringing Free Skate Day to 4 destinations across the United kingdom.
The format consisted of two teams splitting up and covering two parks each, 2 in the North and 2 in the South. All of the skateparks including Kaos, Pioneer, The House and Spit & Sawdust happily opened their doors for a day making it free for all participants far and near to take a shot at winning some of the huge amounts of prizes taken along for every stop.
Each and everyone of the parks saw locals going in hard, pushing each other to land tricks and generating a buzzing atmosphere to take home some of the masses of treasures supplied.
Although each of the parks went full steam to produce the best skateboarding for their edit, there could only be one winner. This took place as voting for each edit opened, giving the skateparks them selves the job of rallying up the local skaters in the community to push for the parks £1000 development fund.
Spit & Sawdust came out on top with a big lead on the others, hard work pays off! We caught up briefly with Christian (park owner) and will soon be joining him on the parks build plans in the near future... Stay tuned!
"Thank you Route One, Supra and everyone who voted for us! We can't believe we've won. We are going to spend the grant on resurfacing all our ramps in top quality birch ply. It will also pay for building the new middle section which we change every 8 months or so, and any left over we will use for general improvements to the building"
